A total lunar eclipse of the moon will occur next
Tuesday, on the
28th of August.
This is the 2nd and last lunar eclipse of 2007.
Anyway. Luckily for us, it will occur when the moon is just over the Pacfic.
Yay.
Unluckily for us, Singapore is not very well covered as usual -_-
Alright. Here's the details:
Partial Eclipse begin: 4:50:57 pm
Total Eclipse begin: 5:52:00 pm
Greatest Eclipse at: 6:37:22 pmTotal Eclipse ends: 7:22:45 pmPartial Eclipse ends: 8:23:50 pm
All information was taken from NASA.According to the
National Environment Agency(NEA), the moon will rise in Singapore at
7:10pm and the sun will set at 7:11pm on the 28th of August.
If you match that to the information above, we will miss the lunar eclipse at its greatest point totally.
But the thing is, we will still have a full 12 minutes before the total eclipse of the moon ends in Singapore assuming the sun's rays don't overwhelm the moon totally for that one minute just before the sun sets.
The other good news is that, the moon will appear to be the fullest on the night of the 28th August for the whole of August. Yep, it will appear as a big glowing orb next Tue night.
So set your alarm clocks for
7:10pm and watch the
eastern horizon(hopefully yours isn't blocked by skyscrapers and buildings cos mine is -_-) for a orange-reddish ball in the sky. Yep. That's how the moon looks like when it undergoes an eclipse.
Oh and don't worry if you forget. I will remind some people on the night itself. That's all then.
*By the way, as a general guide, and if you don't have a compass, the sun rises in the east and sets in the west.
And the best place to catch this lunar eclipse is Hawaii =)Replies ~ your tags:
