I said I will blog last week but i guess it slipped my mind. Too shag to think. Lol.
Well I am now 62.5% through BSLC.
The week has been extremely hectic.
Monday was live range. We finished early enough to sleep at 10.30pm.
Tuesday was our first navigation exercise. We woke at 5am and spent a day in Lower Mandai. Slept at 11.30pm.
Wednesday was the start of field camp. We woke at 5am and slept at 9pm. Had sentry duty from 11:30~1.30am. We woke at 5am.
Thursday was the end of field camp. We marched back to camp and slept at 12am.
Friday was section live firing. We woke at 5am and spent an entire day at the range(with a lot of time spent in the downpour) and went back company line at 10.30pm.
We slept at 2.30am.
Saturday. We woke at 5am. I booked out at 6.30am.
And that's how my week has been. The next week will be more tiring and more hectic.. I just want to survive through this.

The good old days..
I found this when I was packing my stuffs.

My mind's unweaving/ 3:07 PM
Something interesting happened yesterday.
My mom hired some service to clean out our aircons which were badly congested and heavily in need of maintainence. 3 years, in fact.
So the servicemen came and took a look at the external aircon unit.
They cleared out some wooden boards covering it and presto, we found a bird's nest right outside our flat cleverly balanced between our aircon unit and the wall.
It looks abandoned except for a few feathers left in it.

Maybe that explains all the twittering and chirping.. and the constant invasion of birds into my kitchen.
Haha. Birds are sure hardworking fellas. Look at all those twigs!

There goes my 3rd week in Charlie Coy so quickly.
I am 37.5% through my BSLC!
Things are starting to get tough around.. I think we are going into perma outfield mode already.
Dang it. I really dislike outfield.
Had my actual IPPT test on Thursday. I lost 1 point from SBJ and gained 1 point in pullups -.-
So its still 22 points silver. Yep.. the only difference being that I ran NINE: FIVE THREE this time!!!
It doesn't sound much compared to the rest of Charlie Coy(1 in 3 people can do 9:44 and above) but the thing is.. I improved by 22 seconds!!
Woohoo! Lol. I am only 9 seconds away from getting IPPT gold if I jump just 2 cm more for SBJ!
Next IPPT: GOLD!
Next week when I blog again.. I will be 50% through BSLC!

Charlie Coy!
Charlie Coy! Charlie Coy!
Charlie Coy! Charlie Coy Charlie Coy Charlie Coy! We are the best, we are the champions, we have an unrivalled 5BX! Charlie Coy!
The word of Charlie company has spread throughout SISPEC. Hahaha.
People act differently when they see a camp pass with the letter 'C' now. Its respect and awe for the warriors of Charlie Coy. Our 5BX is getting tougher and tougher cos we are adding 1 more count per exercise each day, and 10 more counts each day to our Buddha claps. But that's progressive training for you. The 2nd week has been much easier than the first week. No more tekan, cos we are performing much better than in the first week, and following the rules well.
However, no nights out for Charlie Coy this week, despite all the admin time we had.
Why does Hotel Coy has 2 nights out in a row?The daily activities for the entire week ended before dinner, with the night activity brought forward due to the extra time, except for the night we had the CO dialogue.
That creates an enormous amount of admin time.. but why no nights out??
So I spent like 3 to 4 hours stoning on the days with lots of admin time.. and we had like infinite admin on Thursday cos we ended at 2.45pm and had to wait for the CO dialogue at 7pm.
Speaking of the CO dialogue session, it was extremely unconstructive and pointless.
The problem is not cos of the officers answering our questions. It was the questions themselves.
2 hours of questions summarised:
1. Why must we serve NS?
2. Is the SAF ready to fight a war?
And stupid questions like:
Since we have so much military notes to study, why can't we study from home and take our tests from home and those who fail the tests are forced to book in while the rest stay at home?
Why do I say that the above question is stupid?
1. Military notes are restricted material under military law. We cannot simply bring them home to study.
2. If we are going to do everything from home, why are these 2 years called serving NS? Its not meant to be done in a comfort zone in the first place.
3. Are we going to go all the way to camp, book in, consult the commanders regarding our queries, book out, go home, and take the test?
4. Since when was theory a huge part of our tests? Practicality is more important in military knowledge than theory alone. You can't practice military knowledge from home, can you?
5. Do you think the SAF is going to place huge amounts of military knowledge online, to make it accessible for all NSmen, as well as terrorists and other military units around the world where potential enemies can analyse our military data and find our weaknesses?
6. Are theory tests the only thing we do in NS? How are our NSmen going to maintain their fitness level if we just stay home and mug?
So can you see why the above question is stupid? Its totally ridiculous.
Ok regarding the above 2 generic questions asked in many different ways over a span of 2 hours.
This is purely my personal opinion and not some politically correct answer.
Some people have said that the SAF is not ready to fight a war because our men are not ready to kill.
Look, if you are in a war, and your survival depends on you shooting your enemy before your enemy shoots you, will you hesitate and consider ethics before shooting someone who is about to kill you?
Personally, I will not hesitate to kill to defend my family and friends. And also to come back from a war alive. But of course I don't expect Singapore to go into a war. Diplomacy is always the best choice.
Regarding why we have to serve NS, this is because if noone is forced to serve NS, noone will. It is basically stupid to take a meagre wage and risk your life for your country. Since someone has to be forced to serve NS, then everyone will be forced to do so, for fairness sake.
So just maintain a positive mindset and get the 2 years over with. If we don't go through tough training, we will die in the jungle before we even see our enemy.
And since we are all doing this together, lets do this happily.
End of statement.
Anyway, I got Silver for my IPPT categorisation test on Thursday. 22 points. Wahahaha. 3 points more to full marks. I am going to try for it though its going to be very tough to earn those 3 points.
My ultimate goal at the end of BSLC: IPPT GOLD!
I need 30 seconds off my 2.4km timing and 2 more pullups! >_< I can do it!!

I had an interesting dream in camp last night.
I dreamt of my neighbourhood 10 to 20 years later. What was it like?
The place was sizzling hot. The sun was so bright, that the ground looked unnaturally white.
All around me on the grass, there were sprinklers built and they were spraying water onto the grass continuously. In the far distance, I could see a grass field without any sprinklers. It had already became a mini desert.
Why did I had a dream like this? I have no idea. First and foremost, I wasn't thinking about the environment before I went to bed.
Could this be a sign? A vision of the future? I do not know, but at the rate the temperature is increasing, this might become a possible scenario in the future. Perhaps one day, grass will really depend on man-made sprinklers to survive.
Nature imbalanced, tipped by the pressure of Man's actions.
